Event Organisation and Management Programme Assistant

This opportunity is especially aimed at Sixth form, College, Foundation, and University Undergraduate or Postgraduate students.

 

This role will allow the young talent to support the delivery of our largest UK Government-funded national outreach programme, "Propel into Future Flight" Boot Camp. The Boot Camps will be delivered across the country for the second year following continuous funding commitment from the UK Department for Transport (DfT) and the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), through the "Reach for the Sky" Challenge Fund.

What You'll Do

  •  Collaborate with the Founder and Boot Camp Lead to plan and execute all aspects of the “Propel into Future Flight” Boot Camp

  •  Create and maintain a detailed event timeline, meeting all deadlines in preparation for the delivery of a regional Boot Camp 

  •  Expand the existing network of schools and industry speakers to help scale the regional Boot Camps

 

  •  Coordinate with speakers, volunteers and academic organisations on their participation in the Boot Camp and ensure a seamless event experience

  • Assist in coordinating logistics, including venue selection, catering, transportation, and accommodations for participants

  •  Handle participant inquiries and provide necessary information before and during the event

  •  Collaborate with the Social Media and Marketing Assistant on marketing and promotional activities for the regional Boot Camp

  •  Collect feedback and insights from all stakeholders as well as contributing own reflections to aid the improvement of future events

  •  Track and report progress to the senior leadership team 

Duration

The duration of your support can vary between a minimum of 2 weeks to a maximum of 6 months (~30-50 hrs expected project work)

 

This is a part-time position, and your working hours will be agreed upon to suit your other commitments.

 

You will always be working to meet the deadlines of when the Boot Camps are held throughout the year (currently, regional boot camps are scheduled for July, August, November 2024 and January 2025)

Salary

£400 for each boot camp planned and delivered in 2024-2025

Intake dates

Starting dates for this role are preliminary planned for April, June, September, and November 2024

Who You Are

Essential:

  •  Passion for creating opportunities for other young people

  •  Interest and motivation to work in Educational Outreach (including building relationships with Academic Organisations, Parents, Students, and Volunteers)

  •  Ability to work independently and as part of a small team, demonstrating flexibility, adaptability, personal responsibility and commitment to agreed tasks

  •  Good written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail and willingness to learn from experienced mentors

  •  Experience with routine IT Microsoft Office and/or G Suite tools, including Word/Google Docs, PowerPoint/Google Slides, Excel/Google Sheets

  •  Be at least 17 years old when applying and ideally aged 18 or over at the start of the programme (starting dates planned for April, June, September, and November 2024)

  •  Be UK-based with written and spoken fluency in English

​​Desirable:

  •  Interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) subjects is preferable

  •  There is no requirement for you to be studying a course related to Aviation / Aerospace / STEM

  •  There is no requirement for you to have plans to work in the Aviation / Aerospace / STEM industry
